Laos Lotto is an increasingly popular lottery game that awards large prizes to those who match the winning numbers. Regulated by the state-run Lottery Agency since 1975, its success can be attributed to its simplicity and low costs – making it accessible for all. Before buying tickets for Laos Lotto it is important that you become informed as well as aware of potential scams or frauds which might take place.
Even though prize amounts for matching certain numbers vary, participants can still make significant sums by betting on their chosen numbers. Matching three digits will multiply a player’s stake 6 million kip-fold while two matchings result in a 60,000-fold return; plus the odds increase with each number that is matched!
Laos lotterie draws are broadcast live on both local TV channels and radio, keeping fans enthralled while they compare their ticket entries with official results. Yet some players are beginning to question its honesty; according to RFA’s Lao service, one lottery salesman alleged that Thai company which runs the lotto knows which numbers are being played and could use any method necessary to change them without their knowledge or approval.
Vilasack Phommaluck, director of the Ministry of Finance’s National Lottery Steering Committee, says this type of behavior falls outside his organization’s purview. To combat it, Phommaluck suggested that future drawings might be reduced in order to reduce shenanigans but that eliminating them altogether might prove challenging.
However, the steering committee was making efforts to prevent such behaviors by implementing safeguards against them. One such measure is restricting who can purchase tickets in order to limit their ability to manipulate results and another involves showing lottery results more promptly.
Law enforcement agencies have been directed by the government to strictly deal with individuals and businesses engaging in illegal lotteries, slot machine outlets or online games that violate local or federal law. Repeat violations could result in fines or arrest. Economic police will monitor businesses engaged in lotteries, and take appropriate action if necessary, according to an order from the Ministry of Finance that outlines guidelines for their management in Laos. This order mandates that all lotteries must be operated by licensed entities with registered addresses within Laos, which must also belong to the Lao National Association of Lottery and Gaming and renew their license annually. License holders will also face stringent disciplinary procedures, with suspension or cancellation possible if any violations take place. In due time, the Ministry of Finance will provide more details on how to apply for lottery licenses free-of-charge on its official website. The form for application can also be found there.
