Lottery Online
The lottery is one of only two forms of legalized gambling in Thailand, and draws are held twice a month on the first and sixteenth of every month. More than 19 million people, or 28% of the Thai population, play the lottery, with the hope of a sudden windfall. This wildly popular activity provides revenue for organizers, a source of entertainment for players, and even serves as an economic stimulus, as winners inject their newfound wealth into the local economy.
Thais are not only drawn to the thrill of a flutter, but also to the tantalizing promise of a life-altering fortune. While it is unlikely that any individual will become rich overnight, the lottery offers a chance to win cash, cars, homes and other assets. It also helps fuel the human spirit by fostering a sense of hope and optimism.
In the drawing process, a person called the Draw Chairman randomly selects a colored ball to determine the order of lesser prize draws. Different colors signify different prizes: yellow for second prize, pink for third prize, green for fourth prize and blue for fifth prize. The draw machine then randomly selects six-digit numbers from the tickets purchased for the respective prizes.
Thai lotto tickets, or slaak kinaebng, are pre-printed and include anti-counterfeiting features. They are available only in ticket pairs, and can be bought at official lottery booths, or via licensed online sellers. Foreigners are allowed to purchase a Thai government lotto ticket, but can only win the jackpot if they are within the country at the time of the draw.
