In a nation where the Mekong River winds through rugged mountains and verdant plains, Laos nurtures a unique tradition – the lottery. The directive states that the number of state lottery drawings will be reduced from two to one a week, and winnings will be handled in a more transparent manner. Informal football lotteries and lottery chances purchased through short messaging services will also be shut down.
