The communist country of Laos is renowned for its mountainous terrain, French colonial architecture, hill tribe settlements, and Buddhist monasteries. But beneath the surface of this enchanting Southeast Asian nation lies an equally alluring cultural cornerstone – the lottery.
While the national lottery does not appear to be much of a moneymaker, it has nonetheless become an integral part of Laos’ social fabric. Unlike the Western-style games of chance, which are often linked to illegal gambling operations, laos lotto is government run and devoid of any such connections. It also offers a significant chunk of the first prize to multiple winners, a nod towards equality and fairness.
In addition to being a popular pastime, the laos lotto is a major source of funding for religious congregations. In the 18th century, its success sparked a battle between the monarchy and the Church for control over the lottery’s revenue. In order to download the app, users must first head over to the Google Play store and search for “laos lottery”. Once the results have been shown, a download button will be visible. After clicking on it, a pop-up window with the permissions required by the application will be displayed. Once the user has accepted these terms, the app will begin downloading and installing onto their device. This process can take up to a few minutes. Once completed, the app will be able to be accessed from the user’s home screen.
