Play the largest lottery in Thailand from the palm of your hand!

The lottery, with its promise of sudden wealth, binds participants in a common dream and fuels the human spirit. Whether Thais travel to a shrine, rely on the cosmos disguised in the numbers of an old clock or simply calculate their own short odds, the lottery experience is one that unites people in shared optimism and hope. Even if the winning ticket does not materialize, the anticipation of a prize can drive consumer behavior and stimulate the economy.

Thailand’s official national lottery (Thai: , RTGS: salak kin baeng) is a form of gambling that takes place twice monthly, on the first and sixteenth of every month. It is one of only two forms of legalized gambling in the Land of Smiles, and is played by 19 million Thais, or 28.6% of the country’s native population.

The lottery is administered by The Government Lottery Office (GLO), and tickets are sold in “ticket-pairs”. Each ticket pair costs 80 baht, and is pre-printed with information and anti-counterfeiting features. The GLO also utilizes a Draw Chairman to initialize each drawing machine and select the balls that correspond to the number drawn. The first prize is awarded to those who match all six digits in the winning number, while second and third prizes are available for those who match the first three or four digits respectively. Bonus prizes for matching five and two digits were previously offered, but these have been scrapped by the military government after it took power in 2014.
